Thursday Tips and Tricks #4: Oil Your Locks!
September 30, 2021 54 view(s)

Now for this Thursday Tip, this week we want to encourage our customers to think outside of the box for the upcoming cold weather! Especially when it comes to locks on your car, shed or bikes, they can start to freeze when the temperature drops!

To prevent frozen locks, you can oil them before the first frost of the year. Oiling the locks will put a thin, protective layer over the lock’s inner mechanical parts, whisking moisture away and ensure that moving parts are operating well even in the cold.

Also, you can pick up a tube of graphite at your local auto parts store and squirt it into your door locks.  Press the lock/unlock button on your key fob or use your car key to work the graphite into the lock.  This can help keep locks from freezing.

Additionally, if you are looking for heating products you can look at BriskHeat’s catalog! To find other Thursday Tips and Tricks, check out our Freeze Protection Page! Because this winter, BriskHeat has your back!
