Process Heating In Food & Beverage Processing

In the food and beverage processing industry it’s important to maximize production, minimize waste, maintain visual appeal, and optimize nutritional value. Heat is critical to the production and processing of food products from the time seeds are planted until products are ready for consumption. BriskHeat understands these challenges. We offer innovative heating solutions, from reliable heat trace to immersion heaters, to ensure consistent and controlled heating throughout your processes. BriskHeat products help you meet your production goals, minimize spoilage, and provide precision heating solutions to increase profitability.

Extend Your Growing Season While Increasing Crop Varieties -

The first key to increasing crop production is using heat to plant earlier. Self-regulating heating cable can be used to warm the soil, allowing seeds to be planted earlier. SLCBL and SLCAB are weather resistant, can be used to prevent frost from permeating the soil. Earlier planting not only means an earlier harvest but can expand the variety of crops grown in a specific geographical area. Use a fixed-point thermostat to maintain a temperature above freezing, but not too hot as to damage the seeds. An end of circuit monitor light kit shines when the cable is heating.

BriskHeat’s heating cable can also be used to prevent the loss of grapevines during the harshest of winter temperatures. Foam insulators add further protection to the buds from wind damage.

Prevent Condensation in Bulk Solids -

When discussing food production, bulk dry solids can refer to anything from dry fertilizers to newly harvested grain. Bulk materials intended to be dry can be damaged by exposure to moisture. Fertilizers can clump, making dispersion difficult as machinery can get clogged. Harvested grains can start to spoil as the moisture starts mold growth. BriskHeat’s silicone rubber heating blankets with pressure sensitive adhesive keep hoppers and mixers warm enough to dry plant-based material as well as prevent condensation. Dried materials are often stored in large tote tanks for future processing and tote tank heaters designed to prevent condensation.

Cold Storage Requires Heat, Too -

Often walk-in coolers and freezers are used to keep ingredients fresh. So why do they require heat? Moisture in the air condenses into water when exposed to colder air. If this happens in a freezer, ice can cause damage. Silicone rubber heating tapes or blankets can be used to melt the ice. Condensate evaporation pans are another heating product that helps to prevent liquids from freezing. PTC Evapoway poans are specifically designed for use around low flashpoint refrigerants. These are also used on portable electric coolers where permanent drain lines are not available. Silicone rubber heating tapes with built-in thermostats are perfect to have on hand for emergency de-icing.

Viscosity Control for Better Blending -

When blending liquids, viscosity matters. Warming liquids using drum or tote tank heaters provide more homogeneous mixtures. Heaters are also used to melt shortening, chocolate, and oils so they can be emulsified into other food products. This is important in mixing doughs and other food products. In addition to making better blends, heating thicker liquids means they will flow faster and will not gum-up flow control components. Measuring quantities can be performed more efficiently, too.

Sanitation and Pasteurization for Safety -

High temperature heating is required to pasteurize dairy products, juice, and other liquids. Immersion heaters with built-in temperature sensors quickly heat liquids to critical temperatures and accurately maintain them for product safety. Made from food safe stainless-steel alloys, there is no risk of contamination from our heaters. Immersion heaters are also used in many other cooking processes where liquids need to be heated.

Presentation is Key to Increasing Sales -

Whether your process requires dehydration or baking, BriskHeat tubular heating elements or aluminum foil heaters can be your solution. Use these in your ovens to provide the consistently uniform heating required to create an appetizing appearance. BriskHeat products are also used in packaging processes. Air heaters can be used to manufacture film wrapping materials, and cartridge heaters are used for sealing film and bagging materials.

Whether you’re growing vegetables, feeding livestock or brewing beer, BriskHeat’s knowledgeable Application Engineers and Account Managers will work with you to provide a solution to meet your processing needs.
