Domenic Federico Retires as President and CEO of BriskHeat, as Mike Thompson Takes Charge

2023 marks a changing of the guard at BriskHeat, as Domenic Federico is retiring from the company after 22 years as President and CEO. As of Jan. 2, 2023, he will be handing his responsibilities over to Mike Thompson, who will become the new President and CEO. Thompson has been with BriskHeat for 27 years, the last 15 as Sr. Vice President of Manufacturing.

During Federico’s tenure at BriskHeat, the company’s revenue grew tenfold. Under his leadership, BriskHeat expanded from 100 employees to over 900, based in six countries. In 2018, Federico led the sale of BriskHeat to NIBE Industrier of Sweden.

Federico Took Command in 2001

Federico became familiar with BriskHeat (then doing business as BH Thermal) when he was an attorney working with one of the company’s board members. He was asked to join the company as President and CEO in 2001.

His business approach included focusing on Semiconductor and OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), which helped grow the business significantly. Federico made a bold move to open a factory in Vietnam, to better serve the semiconductor industry.

As BriskHeat continued to grow both revenue and staff wise, Federico began to search for an acquisition partner that could take the company to an even higher level. After an extensive search, a deal with NIBE Industrier of Sweden was reached in 2018. NIBE is a global group of manufacturing companies with $3.7 billion in annual revenue and more than 15,000 employees worldwide.

Federico Reflects on His 22 Years Leading BriskHeat

“The real strength of BriskHeat over the years is in the people and the team we’ve put together,” Federico said. “You must value your people to grow your business. The team we have in place now will continue to expand, which means continued growth and opportunities for everyone at BriskHeat.”

What’s next for Federico? “There’s a beginning, a middle, and an end – and I’ve reached the end careerwise,” continued Federico. “It’s time for me to move on. It’s been an incredible experience to work with this incredibly talented group of people. It will be an adjustment as my heart and soul will still be with BriskHeat.”

Thompson Takes Over Starting Jan. 1, 2023

As Federico wraps up his time, Thompson will step into the role of President and CEO. During his 27 years with BriskHeat, Thompson has been instrumental in establishing the company’s high-volume international manufacturing efforts. He has also held key positions in manufacturing and sales, giving him a full view of BriskHeat’s day-to-day operations.

Thompson will lead the company into its next era, which includes the launch of a new production facility in Costa Rica during 2023. “As BriskHeat moves into the future, I believe we’re going to be reflecting on Domenic’s vision,” Thompson said. “We will build on our current success and continue to drive revenue growth. We will accomplish this through further market diversity and expanded customer base applications. My vision for BriskHeat is to be the world’s top, one stop source for all surface heating solutions, temperature controls, and insulating needs.”

“I also look forward to ensuring that goals and objectives are aligned with the core values and principles of our parent company NIBE,” Thompson added. “We want to build on our current success as a flexible surface heating manufacturer to gain market share from our competition by always offering a superior quality product with lead times that exceed the industry standard. Our goal is to always make it easy for customers to do business with BriskHeat.”

“I leave the company in the best of hands with Mike Thompson,” said Federico. “NIBE is a fantastic partner, so together, I believe they’ll take BriskHeat to new heights.”
