Working with the Ohio Department of Development and YSU, BriskHeat Brings an Intern in to Work on Global Business Initiatives

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2021BriskHeat, a leading provider of surface and immersion heating products, controllers, and insulators, has partnered with the Ohio Department of Development on its Ohio Export Internship Program (OEIP) and Youngstown State University (YSU) to bring a student intern on board.

Cooper Smith, a senior majoring in Marketing Management, was matched with BriskHeat through the program. Smith has been working with Craig Wilson, BriskHeat’s Senior Marketing Manager, on global business initiatives since June of this year.

“My experience at BriskHeat has been extremely valuable in helping me gain real-world, hands-on experience and knowledge,” said Smith. “I'm grateful to YSU and the Ohio Department of Development for offering this program to upcoming graduates like myself. I am very grateful to BriskHeat and my supervisors for helping me advance my career. The skills the program and internship helped me gain will certainly set me apart from other job seekers upon graduation."

“Cooper has done such a great job that we’ve extended his internship through the end of the year,” said Wilson. “We plan to extend an offer for Cooper to join the company full-time when he graduates in May 2022. The YSU program, in conjunction with the OEIP through the Ohio Department of Development, has been nothing short of fantastic for BriskHeat. We’re a proud supporter of the program.”

Last month, Smith and other YSU cohort students were honored with the Certificate of Completion by Williamson College of Business Administration at YSU.

The program, created by the Ohio Department of Development and offered at YSU, The Ohio State University, Cleveland State University, and the University of Dayton, matches students with an Ohio company for full-time paid summer internships to work on projects ranging from market research to international business plans. In the seven years that YSU has hosted the program, 75 students have completed the program, 14 have received full-time job offers and 13 have passed the Certified Global Business Professional exam. Each year, students are formed into teams to complete real-life company projects with Ohio Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) Export Assistance Network clients.
