Application

Natural-gas condensate is a mixture of water and hydrocarbon liquids that are present as gaseous components in the raw gas produced from crude oil and wet gas well fields. The temperature, moisture content and pressure of the natural gas will have an impact on the formation of condensate. Fuel, gas condensate may be present at the well head at ambient temperatures. Even gas wells with little liquids at extraction will form condensate of heavy hydrocarbons such as ethane, propane, butanes, and pentanes when cooled below the hydrogen dewpoint of approximately 23°F (-5°C). Condensates increase maintenance costs in fuel gas transmission lines by corroding pipes, and clogging components. In addition to damaging the system, condensate can cause errors in flow measurement and variation in properties of the fuel.

Condensate jeopardizes the ability of fuel systems to meet the needs of producers and suppliers. Natural gas producers must design extraction and transmission systems that will meet increasing demand, and require little maintenance. These systems need to deliver high quality fuel with consistent thermal properties while minimizing environmental impact. Local suppliers need systems that safely and reliably provide fuel to their customers.

Solution

BriskHeat offers several solutions for heating piping and components both indoors and outdoors. SLCBL self-regulating heating cable can be wrapped around pipes, valves, pumps, regulators, and other system components to warm fuel gas above the dewpoint temperature, preventing the formation of condensate. Rated for cCSAus and CE ordinary locations and cCSAus Class I Division 2 hazardous locations, it is the perfect choice for fuel extraction and transmission systems. Self-regulating cable operates at its maximum output in ambient temperatures of -40°F (-40°C) and decreases as the contact temperature increases towards the maximum operating temperature.

BriskHeat has power connection kits, end terminations, splice kits and junction boxes required to complete a heat trace system. Monitor Light kits provide the benefit of seeing a heat trace system is energized from a distance. The JHE-LG-GET Monitor Light Kits features a bright green LED providing 360° visibility at a rating of 10 lumens. Increase the efficiency of any condensation prevention system by adding Silver-Series Insulators, or BriskHeat custom cloth insulators. WinterShield™ heated pockets provide warmth to individual components to prevent condensation.
