Full-coverage drum and pail heaters are used by manufacturers in many applications. Petrochemical users store fuel oils and lubricants in 55-gallon drums which need to be heated to reduce viscosity. 55-gallon drums heat faster and are easier to move in production areas than tote tanks. Cosmetic and personal care lotions require ingredients in these drums to be heated for better mixing. Drum heaters are used in food processing for everything from viscosity control to pasteurization. In fact, BriskHeat full coverage drum heaters can be used almost anywhere silicone band heaters are used to provide better temperature uniformity with added insulation for energy efficiency.
General purpose full coverage drum heaters, constructed of durable silicone impregnated cloth feature an integrated SDC temperature controller, 1 inch (25.4 mm) fiberglass insulation, and a 6-foot (1.8 meter) power cord. There are 3 different styles designed to meet the needs of the end-user:
- FGDH - For metal drums, the single controller has a maximum setpoint temperature of 450°F (232°C). Four sizes are available from 5-gallon to 55-gallon.
- FGPDH – For poly drums, the single controller has a maximum setpoint temperature of 160°F (71°C) and is only available in 55-gallon.
- FGDDH – For metal drums, two controllers have a maximum setpoint temperature of 450°F (232°C) and is only available in 55-gallon.
Heaters designed for use on metal drums feature a higher watt density for faster heat-up.
BriskHeat’s FGDHW series wet-area drum heater is made from extra-durable water-resistant polyester cloth with ½ inch (13 mm) foam insulation. A digital temperature controller with a maximum temperature of 140°F (60°C) means precise control to the single zone heating elements. It includes a built-in high limit thermostat for safety, is ETL certified to USA UL standards and has an IP54 rating for use outdoors. This full-coverage heater should be used for outdoor applications or wash-down areas.
