Description

Lynx

For heaters without a built-in dock, a docking station is required to connect a LYNX control module to a heater. Choose from a wide variety of docking stations with various heater plug and sensor type configurations. Docking station assembly requires a power harness and module for operation.

  • Snap-on mounting clip
  • Sensor receptacle accepts standard and mini
  • 9-position connectors mate with other docking stations and power harness

Q: What are some of the advantages of using LYNX Operator Interface (OI)?
A: The OI simplifies programming by simultaneously setting parameters for groups of modules. Caution alarms become visible if a heater starts to operate outside of normal parameters. Individual module locations can be easily identified by “pinging” the module from the large 10.1 in (25.7 cm) screen. In the event of an alert
condition, emails can be sent to specified individuals.

Q: Does the LYNX OI allow for expansion if heaters are added?
A: Yes. When new jackets are added, they will be sensed by the OI and either added to the existing string or displayed as a new string depending on where they are added. The OI handles up to 8 strings with up to 128 modules per string.

Q: Why do I need a docking station?
A: The docking station distributes power to the Temperature Control Module and heater. It also supplies the connection for the temperature sensor required for control.

Q: Can the OI really send email alerts?
A: Yes. The system must be connected to the internet and messaging enabled. Many phone carriers can send text messages from emails via an SMS Gateways. Contact your carrier for capabilities.

Q: What is a latching alarm?
A: A latching alarm automatically limits power to a heater in the event it goes into an alarm state. If a high temperature alarm is non-latching, power to the heater is limited until such time as the temperature decreases a certain number of degrees below the set point temperature. At that point, the power to the heater is restored. A latching alarm is a safety feature that requires not only the decrease in temperature but also for the operator to acknowledge the alarm before normal operation will resume.

Q: What is the “Idle Mode” feature?
A: This allows the system or group of modules to be operated at a reduced temperature (defined by customer) and for most alarms to be disabled. This saves time and energy by allowing the user to push one button to lower temperature for system maintenance.

Q: What is duty cycle monitoring?
A: Duty cycle is a ratio or percent that the power is on. When power is first applied to a heater, the duty cycle is typically higher and decreases as the setpoint temperature is approached. Duty cycles can alert users of potential future performance issues.

Q: Does LYNX have any 3rd-party agency approvals?
A: Yes. LYNX is ETL approved to UL and CSA standards.
