Introducing BriskHeat’s Heat Loss Calculator

BriskHeat has added an online Heat Loss Calculator to our website to assist our customers in determining their heating needs. This tool can be used for temperature maintenance, viscosity reduction, or process heating of liquids in vessels or flowing through pipes. Instructions include information required for the calculation, as well as tips to improve system design. In addition to the list of liquids and vessel materials, there is an option to manually customize the properties for materials not listed. This tool considers heat required for the vessel as well as the liquid, adding to the accuracy of the calculation. Ambient temperature and wind conditions that may require additional power are included. Use the insulation options to simulate energy savings by increasing insulation thickness or coverage area.

When entering temperatures, wind velocity, flow rate, and volume of liquid, be sure to use “worst” case information such as maximum flow rate, minimum initial and ambient temperatures, etc. The calculator provides wattage required to maintain the specified operating temperature, to heat the liquid from initial temperature to operating temperature, and if flowing through a system, the wattage required to supply liquid at the desired temperature. It is recommended a 10-20% safety margin be added to the required wattage. Concerned about the “hot face” temperature of the insulation? Ensure a safe working environment by having this information available. There’s even a way to print the results!

Provide this information to your BriskHeat Account Manager or Distributor for a complete solution. We have the heaters, temperature controllers, and insulators you need for your heating applications.
